This new-build planned for Nanaimo’s downtown will bring 50 units of supportive housing to the community. The building faces a major highway on one side, and is typically viewed from a perspective of passing by rather than straight on. In response to this we have designed colourful ‘fins’ that project from the facade, creating visual interest for passerbys, and giving the building a buffer to the traffic below. This new-build project will provide complex care and supportive housing, as well as a 20 bed shelter for individuals at risk of homelessness in Powell River, BC. The site is located within the Tla’amin Nation—RHA has been in conversation with the nation to represent some architectural vernacular in the building through materiality and abstracted forms of traditional long houses. RHA is working with ETRO Construction to design pre-fabricated balconies that can be attached to existing buildings.
This temporary modular shelter has created 40 beds for emergency housing in Powell River, BC. RHA worked with modular builder Tasu, and the operator of the space is Lift Community Services. The client is BC Housing.
A continuation to The Price House, this project introduces a tennis court, swimming pool and modest pool house to the property.
This project is a duplex in Port Coquitlam, BC. Designed with secondary suites to create a 4-unit, independent living group home for residents experiencing mental health challenges—each unit contains multiple rooms, creating housing for 16 people in total. The client for this project is New View Society.
RHA is designing a 10-unit facility for complex care housing in Prince George, BC.
RHA is collaborating with Raven Architecture to design a 48-unit supportive housing building in downtown Abbotsford, BC. Sited on a prominent corner in the city, this building features materials and colours that recall Abbotford’s heritage homes, complementing the local urban fabric and rooting the future residents in the community. RHA designed new temporary modular offices for Thompson Rivers University in Kamloops, BC.
Thsi proejct was an upgrade to the Animal Care Facility Labs at SFU in Burnaby, BC. RHA designed new millwork, added new doorways and updated the flooring to create a more functional space.
RHA designed a renovation to the Geography department lounge to create a functional and accessible space at SFU in Burnaby, BC.
This project was a renovation of the student lounge in the Transportation building at SFU in Burnaby, BC. RHA designed custom furniture for the space and updated the flooring and lighting.
This renovation project converted the Lamplighter Inn in Kamloops, BC into affordable housing. The client is BC Housing and the operator is ASK Wellness Society.
This renovation of an existing apartment building of one and two-bedroom units created functional affordable housing on Cherry Avenue in Kamloops, BC. The clients for this project are BC Housing and Interior Community Services.
We collaborated with Entuitive Engineering to renovate the interior and exterior of an affordable housing building in Vancouver, BC. The clients for this project are BC Housing and Tikva Housing.
This renovation project created a 22-bed shelter in Abbotsford, BC. The client is BC Housing and the shelter operator is Lookout Society.
RHA is working on a new elementary and middle school building for DCS in Duncan, BC. The project is currently in the schematic design phase.
The Kamloops Foundry is a youth centre which provides services and activities for local teens and their families. This project has a focus on engagement, with feedback and ideas gathered from the youth on the architecture and interior design of the space, ensuring that their ideas and values are represented in the space. RHA converted two exisiting buildings—previously Direct Arts and the Fraser Inn—in Prince George, BC, into supportive housing for BC Housing. This project created 27 units of housing with a commercial kitchen for meal service. The housing operator is Prince George Native Friendship Centre (PGNFC).
New townhomes in Lillooet, BC, will provide affordable housing for Xaxli’p First Nation. This project is currently in design development.
Dunlevy is a supportive housing project for Atira Women's Society, located in Vancouver's downtown East-side. We are working in collaboration with Uegama Architecture to create 65 new units of housing for women experiencing or at risk of homelessness or violence.

We are designing 38 units, 8 of which are accessible, shared washrooms, kitchens, and amenity spaces, as well as an on-site clinic.

Minor renovation of a well-loved community centre in Duncan, BC. Uses include: HUB Café, Clay Studio, Woodworking shop, outdoor performance space and seating, and historical display and archives.
This project is all about process. We collaborated early on with Coast Salish Consultant, Cory Douglas, and Landscape Architects at Prospect & Refuge to design a supportive housing project that integrates first nation art and culture, and a well-considered landscape design to enhance the lives of the residents. This '50 beds for 50 years' feasibility study is for low-rise supportive housing for up to 80 Residents. Special consideration given to Trauma Informed Design principles.
A new helicopter hangar for Sierra Helicopters in Pitt Meadows, BC. The hangar includes space for helicopter maintenance and repairs, as well as office and storage space and an accessible washroom. In collaboration with Uegama Architecture.
This luxury home project consists of a major renovation and addition to the existing 4,500 sq.ft. main house. It is an exercise in blending the old and the new, as this house is full of family heritage—it was originally designed by Architect Bud Wood and built by the owner's grandfather.
You read that right—when Johnny Tornado called us to update the Slocan City Hotel, we answered. This space needed some minor renovations, and now acts as a community entertainment hub; it features live music, dancing, historic hotel rooms upstairs, and a guitar shop in the basement. It is a well-loved gathering space for the community of Slocan City, BC.
RHA worked with the Turning Points Society of Vernon and BC Housing to develop 54 units of housing and amenity spaces for those who are homeless or at risk of homelessness in Vernon, BC.

Designed for a growing family in Kelowna, this luxury home project consists of a major renovation and addition to the 4,000 sq. ft. main house, as well as the construction of a 2,500 sq. ft. out-building, which offers workout, trophy, workshop spaces, and sheltered parking for the family Airstream. The Valley is a digitally fabricated sculpture that consists of 200 individually cut cross sections of Okanagan Valley topography, installed above Ellis Street and the Library Parkade Plaza in Kelowna, BC. In collaboration with Michael Fugeta. See more here.
This wood-frame modular building provides over 40 permanent homes for people at risk of homelessness. The timeline for the project from design through to occupancy was compressed into about 15 months.
