RHA is designing two buildings for Nanaimo’s downtown—one supportive and one affordable housing building. The buildings face a major highway on one side, and are typically viewed from a perspective of passing by rather than straight on. In response to this we have designed colourful ‘fins’ that project from the facade, creating visual interest for passerbys, and giving the building a slight buffer to to the busy traffic below.
