		<description>Surrey Supportive Housing
	This 61-unit supportive housing project in Surrey, BC, is part concrete construction and part permanent wood frame modular construction. The initial concept called for a 40-unit, four-storey structure in keeping with the applicable BC Housing program. An analysis by RHA for this compact site led us to advocate for a hybrid construction method of a first floor concrete structure supporting five storeys of modular wood frame construction.

	The concrete structure at the base has also proven key to maintaining generous common spaces for residents, both indoor and out, and an accelerated and simplified construction process. The total time for the delivery of this project from accepting the brief to occupation was 1.5 years.

		<description>Riverside Road Supportive Housing
	This project is all about community engagement. RHA advocated for meaningful First
Nations engagement from the start, which has resulted
in a highly successful project that has garnered value
from input by First Nations artists and knowledge
keepers such as Cory Douglas and Debra Sparrow.
Debra is a prolific Musqueam weaver—we worked with
her to develop the colour, texture, and patterning of the
building’s cladding. Cory is a Coast Salish artist and
consultant who is helping us connect with local First
Nations artists to design carvings and engravings at
the front entrance of the building. This gives emerging
Indigenous artists an opportunity for mentorship from
Cory and a way to root their art in the community and landscape.

This project is already making a
meaningful impact in the community. The methodology
and process that we piloted on this project with First
Nations engagement spawned a research project which documented and reflected on decolonizing
design in architecture. The research project was lead
by the Landscape Architect on the team, Kristina Zalite, with contributions from RHA. We hope that this methodology can be
recreated on other projects to engage community, add
cultural value to spaces, and contribute to reconciliation.

					
					Landscape design for this project was also considered
from the start, collaboratively integrating the design of
interior and exterior environments, and highlighting and
honoring the land that we are working on.

		<description>Kamloops Foundry Youth Centre
	

					The Kamloops Foundry project is a youth centre which provides services and activities for local teens and their families. This renovated space is located at 540 Seymour
Street in Kamloops, BC. RHA worked in close collaboration with the staff at Interior
Community Services and Foundry as well as their Youth Advisory
Committee to create a space that reflects the values and goals

					of the user group and the community. This project had a focus on engagement, which included three sessions with the youth where we gathered feedback and ideas on the
architecture and interior design of the space, ensuring that their
ideas and values are represented in the space.
With a focus on being welcoming, calming, fun, and rooted in the community, the Kamloops Foundry features a playful colour pallette inspired the local landscape and wildlife, rich textures, and interconnected spaces to support the needs of the Foundry.

	The Cinematheque theatre, founded in 1972, is a film institute and media education centre devoted to understanding the art and history of Canadian and international cinema, located at 1131 Howe Street in downtown Vancouver. RHA carried out a renovation of the lobby and washroom, seeking to reflect the Cinematheque’s values of&#38;nbsp;inclusivity and diversity, excellence in programming, business, and brand, and foregrounding cinema as a communal and transformative art form.

		<description>New View Society Affordable Housing
	RHA worked with New View Society to develop&#38;nbsp;74 affordable residential units for individuals experiencing mental
health challenges. The building includes a communal kitchen, fitness space, and meeting rooms. The exterior is designed to complement the neighbourhood context, featuring brick, wood slats, and shake-style siding. The lush landscape design introduces new trees to the site, including lilac trees along the front of the property, which bloom with pink flowers.

	Designed for the Price family in Kelowna, this project consists of a major renovation and addition to the 4,000 sq. ft. main house, as well as the construction of a 2,500 sq. ft. out-building, offering workout, trophy and workshop spaces. The out-building also includes sheltered parking for the family Airstream. The buildings are positioned on the site to bracket the yard and it’s tall trees, creating a generous courtyard-like feel in the yard.

This project is a restoration and renovation of a 90 year-old house in Vancouver, which we redesigned from a single-family home into a multi-family home with 3 separate units. We retained the existing character of the home—the exterior shows minimal changes to the original house, other than lifting it by a few feet to add a garden suite below and replacing the old siding and windows to restore the former beauty of the house.&#38;nbsp;The challenge of this project was navigating building code requirements—adding a garden suite on a sloping site made this building 4 storeys tall at the back. This excluded it from the ‘Part 9’ section of the building code typical for houses, meaning it had to meet the more stringent requirements of ‘Part 3’ of the code. RHA was able to navigate the limitations and opportunities within these constraints and create a design that met the legal requirements and the needs of the client. The house is currently under construction, bringing beauty and function back to the site.

	This project is an exercise in blending the old and new, as this house is full of family heritage. It was originally designed by architect Bud Wood, and built by the owner’s  grandfather and mother, Beverly, who still lives on the property. We undertook a major renovation and addition to the 4,500 sq.ft. main house, expanding the kitchen and dining areas. We also redesigned the finishes and millwork throughout the house, creating beautiful and functional spaces.Interior Design: Outpost Design Ltd.

	Located on Venables Street in Vancouver’s east-side brewery district, this eclectic and modern taproom embraces its Italian roots. The space was inspired by looking at examples of the owner’s favourite place in Milan—an old-school microbrewery. The cozy stay-a-while vibe balances out the more modern elements, like the concrete-based bar at the front of the brewery, and the focal point of the space, a striking triangular wall mosaic masking the brewery cooler. Each wooden triangle tile was hand-cut and hand-painted in pastel hues by the owners; the offcuts became trays for beer flights.
